Excel Packing Lists

Congratulations to Rivka W. for winning our giveaway! Your $25 Amazon gift card will be emailed to you before the end of the week! And thanks to everyone who participated!

I happened to pick up this trick from another accountant, Katie, though it really has nothing to do with accounting, except that maybe most accountants like Excel and being efficient. And this little life-hack, my friends, is called Excel Packing Lists.

I think we all know that making a list helps make packing easier--
but since (A) we still sometimes we forget to write stuff on the list and (B) it's annoying to reinvent the wheel every time you go on a trip, why not make a list once in Excel. Use different tabs for different types of trip (e.g., work trip, to Grandma's, family vacation, road trip, etc.) You can tweak it for each trip you take, but it will save you a lot of work and maybe trigger reminders for things you would have forgotten otherwise.

So here's a sample packing list I made for you. Download it, make it your own, and enjoy!

Share-- What do you always forget when you travel?

  1. This is embarrassing, but my top two forget items: pajamas and/or deodorant (because I use it the morning of and then forget to pack it, not because I don't believe in it!) :)

  2. Hey, thanks for the money, Hip Mamas! And the excel packing list? GENIUS! Why didn't I think of that years ago when I was tagging along on business trips and roadtripping all over the country?! And yes Lisa, those are my most forgotten items also :)
