Q. Why did you make this blog?
A. We've learned a lot about personal finance over the years from our business education, our work experience, and our own finances. We love "mommy blogs," but noticed most of the ones with a money focus seemed limited to expense trimming (like coupon cutting and making your own laundry detergent). While we'll cover money saving tips like these, at the end of the day, these tips are a drop in the bucket compared to the ocean of bigger issues such as saving for retirement and kids' education, having adequate insurance, maximizing your tax refund, etc. These also happen to be among the most boring and intimidating of personal finance topics. But don't worry, this site won't be a snooze-fest. We'll try to keep it fun and entertaining.
Q. Are you CPA's (Certified Public Accountants)?
A. Both of us received our CPA license in California while working for public accounting firms. However, we have since decided to place our licenses on inactive status while we raise our children.
Q. Do you think you know everything there is to know about personal finance?
A. Of course not! We definitely do not claim to have all the answers, but we certainly do have a lot of interest in and enthusiasm for the topic of personal finance. We have a lot to learn, but we have also picked up many nuggets of wisdom to pass on to our readers through our education and work backgrounds, as well as life in general.
Q. You mentioned, BYU (Brigham Young University), are you Mormons?
A. Yes! Both Lisa and Lauren are active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Q. Will you do my taxes?
A. Sorry, but the sisterly love only goes so far. Check out Lisa's post on how to file your own.
